THE CHARITY KICK LONDON RESOURCES CHURCHES TO DELIVER HIGH QUALITY FOOTBALL AND DANCE COACHING LINKED TO A THEME, WHICH ENABLES THEM TO SHARE A SPORT’S MINISTRY SLOT FROM THE BIBLE BEFORE THE CHILDREN END WITH MATCHES/PERFORMANCES. HERE IS ONE STORY ABOUT THE IMPACT A KICK ACADEMY CAN HAVE.
We began running our Kick Academy three years ago and had two brother attend. One was seven and the other nine. The nine-year old – let’s call him Max – really enjoyed coming and felt it was a place he could be himself. He felt included and a part of what we did. This was a big deal for Max and his family as he has some special needs and has been bullied for this at school in the past.
We invited Max along to our children’s club which he attended. It led to him coming onto our children’ts weekend away. Max’s mum (let’s call her Martha) consented to him coming and was really happy for Max to be a part of things. However, she always expressed while she’d bring Max, it wasn’t for her. During the weekend away Max gave his life to the Lord and has been attending our church ever since.
A few weeks after Max became a Christian, Martha shared with our pastor on the field where we run our Kick Academy that there was a real change in Max and he just seemed so happy. Once again, she said it was not for her. later that year, we had an event and Martha was having a conversation with our pastor and what had been going on with her. That day, Martha gave her life to the Lord (on that same field!) and our pastor was able to pray with her.
A year on Martha’s youngest son has also become a Christian and all three of them regularly attend church with her sometimes bring her two eldest children along as well. Martha was recently baptised. Max went up to the front of church just a few weeks ago and shared a prophetic word God had spoken to him.
