The Rugby World Cup rolled into London in September, bringing with it a sense of anticipation at what would unfold over the coming weeks – particularly in Brent where matches were being played at Wembley Stadium. A number of churches in the area got together to host events during this time, using the rugby as a way to draw people in.
There was a well-attended men’s dinner with guest speaker Simon Smith, a former player for England and the Wasps. Many of those who came were non-Christians and received a Bible for the first time. Sports workshops were put on during half term by teams from Youth with a Mission and Engage. People were also invited to attend screenings of the semi-finals and finals at different churches throughout the borough.
Many in the borough came into contact with the gospel for the first time through these events. Please pray for the churches in Brent as they seek to build relationships with these individuals and families, and reach out with the gospel.
